On two afternoons on the 8th and 9th of January 2009, boys from Mthunzi Centre attended a leadership workshop conducted by Mr. Michael Chanda.
At the beginning of January 2009, all the boys at Mthunzi elected their representatives to the committee that manages the affairs of the Centre. The election process was overseen by Fr. Renato Kizito Sesana.

Every year, Koinonia holds its annual work camp. This is a program in which work is done randomly. It is a stop gap measure for the for both soft and hard work activities that could not be done in normal working days because of some constraints which sometimes could be financial insufficiency or shortfall of man power.
With the availability at Mthunzi of the internet connection since the end of last year, Information Technology has started growing. Last August 33 Mthunzi boys graduated as computer users.
