Mr. Chanda’s Leadership Workshop
On two afternoons on the 8th and 9th of January 2009, boys from Mthunzi Centre attended a leadership workshop conducted by Mr. Michael Chanda.
Mr. Chanda presented some topics, after which we discussed and did some exercises on the following topics:
- Goals in life and how to programme our futures.
- Important concepts like co-operation, responsibility, respect, commitment and improvement.
- Code of conduct, how to behave in relation to others, and the behavior of an effective leader.
- Time management, establishing priorities and fulfilling them on time.
- Responsibility and readiness to accept the good and bad consequences of our actions.
We learned that life is full of changes, so we must be able to change and face new challenges in order to improve. Now for instance, we the Mthunzi boys have been asked by Father Kizito to take up new duties and responsibilities. We have accepted the challenge, and it is up to us to succeed through commitment and creativity. We also learnt that good leaders are not rulers. Instead, they listen to their friends and organize their groups such that goals are achieved together.
We will do our best to put what we have learned into practice.
