New computers for Domus Mariae School
Domus Mariae School got a boost in its Information and Communications Technology (ICT) training with the donation of 18 new computers by a group of Italian well wishers.
The Italians donated the computers in commemoration of their long time friend Federico Ceratti, who died in a car accident on September 24, 2008.
The new computers will help restock the lab after some laptops from a previous donation were stolen in a night robbery in June last year.
The new machines are all state-of-the art HP brands with 17-inch flat screen monitors. They are interconnected to a central server that provides a local area network and internet connectivity for the whole school community. Moreover, the web server has restrictions to protect the students from the negative aspects of the internet.
School principal Peter Apiyo thanked the donors for their contribution, saying the newly re-equipped computer lab will go a long way in enable the school achieve its key objective to promote ICT literacy among its students.
