President Kibaki reshuffles cabinet
Bowing to pressure from donors and civil society organizations, president Mwai Kibaki yesterday moved national security minister Chris Murungaru to the less glamorous Ministry of Transport in a mini shuffle that also saw the sacking of National security Permanent Secretary Dave Mwangi.Reports from anti-corruption watch dogs have always accused the national Security ministry as being the key corruption customer of corruption. Murungaru swapped positions with Kibaki’s long-term ally John Michuki. Kaloleni MP Morris Dzoro was appointed Minister for Tourism and Wildlife, a docket previously held by Karisa Maitha, who died last August while in official duties in Germany.
