Kenya: 5 killed in Fresh attack in coastal town of Lamu

Five people have been killed in by unknown attackers who raided a village on Kenya's coast near Mpeketoni town where about 65 people died in assaults last week, a government official said on Tuesday June 24.
The attack took place in pandanguo village 38km from Mpeketoni, Lamu County in renewed attacks early Tuesday
Somali militant group Al Shabaab claimed responsibility for last week's attacks on the Mpeketoni area; although Kenyan President Uhuru Kenyatta dismissed al Shabaab's account and said local politicians were behind it.
Addressing the media, Lamu County commissioner, Stephen Ikua said: "I am aware that a gang that is unknown attacked Taa village in Witu division yesterday (Monday) night and killed five people."
