By Lilian Museka
LUSAKA--An 11 year old girl who was allegedly defiled and brutally killed by her uncle in Lusaka, Zambia has been buried.
The deceased’s 10 year old sister is also said to have sustained serious injuries after being beaten by the said culprit, who allegedly intercepted the two while on their way to a shop.
Meanwhile, Tisunge Anna Anthu Akazi Coalition (TAAAC), an organization that works for the protection of girls in Zambia, has condemned the act and called on the police to apprehend the culprit.
“We are extremely disappointed that the uncle who is expected to exhibit high moral values and protect the girls against any form of abuse, took advantage of the defenseless girls to satisfy his sexual desires,” said Mr. Nelson Banda, coordinator of Men and Boys Network, one of the organizations working under TAAAC.
Area Member of Parliament, Mr. Obvious Mwaliteta, identified drug abuse as the major cause of increased rate of crime that has beset the area.
Mr. Mwaliteta who is also Home Affairs Deputy Minister, said his ministry would work in collaboration with other stakeholders to ensure sanity prevails in the area.
