Kenya: Literary Competition Targets African Avid Comic and Story Tellers

The cultural association ENERGHEIA of Matera, the Province of Potenza in Italy and Amani Onlus, an Italian NGO, with the patronage of Regional Administration of Basilicata, announce the seventh edition of the literary Prize “Energheia – Africa teller” with a Comic Strips section.
The authors of the stories and comics eligible to participate in the competition must be 20-30 years old for comic strip and 20-35 years old for short story. The submission should be just one unpublished comic strip or short story, with text, if needed, in English or French, on a freely chosen subject, no more than seven pages (25 lines per page), in black and white.
The work is to be sent, with the author’s name, age, address (telephone number or/and e-mail) and a photocopy of an identity document, before 31 May 2012 to the address: Koinonia (Africa Teller), P. O. Box 21255 – 00505, Nairobi (Kenya) or to communications@koinoniakenya.org subject:Africa Teller.
A committee appointed by the organizers will evaluate the works in order to indicate the best ten in each category to be submitted to the jury’s final judgement.
The jury will declare the winner in July 2012. The winner will be invited to travel to Matera (Italy) for a week, all expenses paid, and take part in the final ceremony that will be held in September 2012.
It’s up to the organizers of the competition to decide about anything which is not included in the present regulations.
