Kenya: Ongeri Must Go
President Kibaki’s deafening silence even after it has become clear that KES 2 bn meant for the Free Primary Education Programme has been stolen by the ministry’s officials has left many analysts baffled. Here is a president who has in the past vowed that anybody who swindles the government will be shown the door and appropriate measures taken top recover the stolen funds. But the irony of all ironies is the Free Primary Education Programme will remain a key legacy of President Kibaki by the time he leaves office next year.
