By Peter Omondi
Nairobi--- Leading local motor solutions provider Simba Colt Motors and leading asset financier NIC Bank, have unveiled an attractive sales package to meet the needs of small and medium enterprises (SMEs), corporate bodies and individual motorists out to purchase a commercial vehicle.
In the new sales package, customers wishing to purchase a Mitsubishi FH 215 truck well known to be Kenya ’s best selling medium commercial vehicle will now enjoy a zero deposit offer with repayments starting from an incredibly low rate of Kshs 75, 500 (US$943.75) per month.
With the new package, available at all Simba Colt Motors branches and dealer network across the country, entrepreneurs wishing to purchase a Mitsubishi FH 215 truck will also enjoy body building and insurance premium financing facilities with NIC Bank.
Speaking when he confirmed the new package, Simba Colt Motors Group CEO Adil Popat said the joint offer is geared at facilitating economic growth for local SMEs and upcoming businessmen.
Alongside the direct sales package, Popat explained that Simba Colt Motors has also enhanced its fleet leasing product which is specifically targeted at the corporate market segment amongst other large fleet owners.
“As the leading indigenously owned motor company in Kenya , we are very keen to bring down barriers limiting the ownership and use of commercial motor vehicles as part of our commitment to foster economic growth,” Popat said, adding: “By partnering with NIC Bank one of Kenya ’s premier banks, we are also helping to provide a one stop shop facility where our customers can enjoy added convenience.”
So popular is the Mitsubishi FH 215, that in the entire new vehicle models range sold in Kenya, it remains the single largest selling vehicle model commanding a nearly 70 per cent market share of the 7-10 ton Gross Vehicle Weight (G.V.W.) medium duty trucks market segment.
As a product of the world renowned Japan based Mitsubishi Fuso Truck and Bus Company (MFTBC) which is an integral part of the Daimler Trucks Division of Germany’s Daimler AG, the runaway success of this vehicle model has been attributed to its superior engineering and extensive tropicalisation to meet local road and operational conditions.
Under the supervision of MFTBC and Simba Colt Motors, the Mitsubishi FH 215 is one of the premium products assembled at the Mombasa-based Associated Vehicle Assemblers (AVA) plant to further confirm Kenya ’s world class manufacturing capacity.
As the local motor industry continues to enjoy cut throat competition, motor dealers are resorting to value added services to further reach out to the market.
Mitsubishi commercial vehicle models available at Simba Colt Motors branches in Nairobi and Mombasa and across its dealer network countrywide include Mitsubishi L200 pickups, Mitsubishi FE 515, 635 and 629 Canters. Mitsubishi Fuso FH 215, FM 615, 657, FN 617, 627 and FV 517 are also sold and serviced by Simba Colt Motors.
