Landslide Kills Over 100 in Uganda
KAMPALA, Uganda
At least 100 people have been killed by a landslide after heavy rains in Eastern Uganda.
The landslide which rocked three villages near Mount Elgon, has also displaced an estimated 2000 people.
Authorities have extracted 80 bodies from the area, and 300 other people are reported missing and feared dead. Only eight survivors have so far been found, and the Ugandan army has been deployed to conduct the search.
Fear of further landslides abound as the heavy rains continue pounding the region with no sign of easing. [ER]
