Eight Killed as Fresh Clashes Emerge in Somalia

Fresh clashes have emerged in Mogadishu,between Somali government forces and the insurgent groups leaving at least eight civilians dead and more than 17 others injured.

The deadly clashes erupted on Saturday evening when heavily armed insurgents attacked government bases in the districts.

The two forces exchanged heavy mortar fire affecting the districts of Bondhere, Karan, Yaqshid, Hodon and Abdiaziz.

Civilians who were wounded in the attacks were rushed to various hospitals in Mogadishu

Mogadishu has experienced intense violence between government forces and Islamist insurgents bent on overthrowing the current UN-backed transitional administration. [CK]
