Somali Speaker Urged to Resume Parliament
MOGADISHU, Somalia
Somali Parliament Speaker, Sheikh Adan Madobe is being accused by members of parliament for maliciously sending parliament on recess.
More than 60 Somali Legislators are now urging the speaker to resume parliament because there is a lot of work that awaits them.
The legislators have been on recess for more than four months, a move they claim was baseless and intended to block their salaries for four months.
The UN-backed government shifted its parliament from the neighboring Djibouti to Somali capital Mogadishu early this year but its efficiency is being greatly hindered by attacks from insurgent groups
The last meeting the parliamentarians had was in August when they passed the state of emergency motion. [CK]
