Somali President Escapes Second Insurgent Attack
Somali President Sheikh Sharif Ahmed escaped insurgent attacks for the second time on Wednesday when the plane he was traveling in was attacked by Islamist rebels.
The plane landed at Mogadishu's Aden Adde International Airport as mortars hit the inside the airport grounds but the President escaped unscathed.
President Sheikh Sharif Ahmed was on his way to the Capital from a delegation meeting in Uganda.
This is the second attack that the Somali president has managed to escape within the same week after insurgent gunmen attacked a road connecting his presidential compound to Mogadishu’s Adde International Airport.. According to reports by radio Garowe, the attack left at least 10 people dead. [CK]
