Guinea Opposition Doubts Junta’s Cooperation in UN Inquiry
Guinea’s opposition has expressed doubts on whether the country’s ruling military junta will cooperate with an UN commission that is set to investigate a recent killing of opposition demonstrators in Conakry.
Although junta leader Captain Moussa Dadis Camara promised to cooperate with the UN investigation, the opposition has dismissed him, saying he never keeps his promises.
A UN report showed that more than 150 people were killed and others wounded when the military shot into crowds of unarmed pro-democracy protesters demonstrating against Camara's possible presidential candidacy. [GR]
