Guinea: US Pressures Junta to Step Down
CONAKRY, Guinea
The US has put more pressure on Guinea’s ruling Junta Moussa Camara to step down. They are also scolding China for the multi-billion-dollar deal with the authorities in Conakry.
US Assistant Secretary of State for Public Affairs P.J. Crowley also emphasized that Camara should step aside and pave way for legitimate elections.
Local human rights groups say more than 150 opposition demonstrators were killed and a similar number of women protesters raped on 28 September 2009. {GR}
