Burkina Faso: UN initiate an urgent request to help flood victims
OUAGADOUGOU, Burkina Faso
The United Nations (U.N.) has initiated an urgent request for $18.4-million to help flood victims in Burkina Faso.
The U.N. Coordinator in Burkina Faso, Babacar Cissé, said the worst of the flooding is over, but there is still an urgent need for food security and healthcare in Ouagadougou and other affected regions.
Burkina Faso is a landlocked country that is more accustomed to dry, dusty weather and droughts than the prolonged bouts of rain it experienced. [GR]
