Nigeria: Rebel extends dialogue with the Federal Government
PORT HARCOURT, Nigeria
Nigeria’s main rebel group announced yesterday that attacks on oil installations would not resume after the end of its 60-day ceasefire.
Movement for the Emancipation of the Niger Delta (MEND) has instead extended the truce period by 30 days accusing that the Federal Government amnesty programme for not giving room for meaningful dialogue.
The Federal Government offered amnesty in June to militant groups who had fought for fair share of the oil revenues since 2006. [GR]
