Ghana Youths Warn of Possible Oil Trouble
ACCRA, Ghana
A youth association in Ghana has warned of possible conflict should local populations be excluded from the benefits of the country’s oil find.
The National Association of Nzema students (NANS) said a situalion like that in Nigeria’s Niger Delta scenario could occur and advised the administration of Ghanaian President John Atta Mills to intervene beforehand.
Ghana has been striking oil since 2007 and could begin commercial drilling in 2010. [GR]
