Nigerian University Lectures Start Strike
Lagos, Nigeria
Nigerian university lecturers have gone on strike to demand the implementation of a pay agreement with the government, local newspapers have reported. Ukachukwu Awuzie, an official from Nigeria's Academic Staff Union of Universities, was quoted saying the aim of the two-week strike is to compel the government to implement a pay rise that took two and a half years to negotiate.[PE]
