Ghana’s electoral commission has formally announced that the West African country will go for a presidential runoff on December 28 after a first round vote failed to produce a clear winner. According to official results, ruling party candidate Nana Akufo-Addo won 49.1 percent of last Sunday’s vote, narrowly beating Opposition leader John Atta-Mills to second place with 47.9 percent of the vote. The main opposition NDC won most parliamentary seats with 113 seats against the ruling party NPP's 109.[PE]
