UN Says Rwanda, DRC in Proxy War

The UN Security Council says Rwanda and DR Congo are fighting a proxy war by backing dissident groups in each other’s country. In a new report compiled by five independent experts, the Council says Rwanda is backing ethnic Congolese Tutsi rebels against the Congolese government while DR Congo is backing ethnic rebels against Rwanda. The experts also said they have evidence that the armed groups aided by both the Rwandan and Congolese regimes have child soldiers within their ranks and engage in illegal trade in minerals. [PE]
