Zimbabwe to Ignore Regional Ruling on Seized Farms
Zimbabwe says it will disregard a ruling by a tribunal formed by a regional grouping of Southern African nations, SADC, which wants the government to return farms it had seized from 78 white former commercial farmers. Zimbabwean Lands Minister Didymus Mutasa dismissed the ruling as a case of "daydreaming", rejecting any possibility that the government would review its policy on the matter. Instead, Mutasa said the state would acquire the remaining white-owned farms and redistribute them to black farmers who had not yet benefited from previous reallocations that have gone on since 2000.[PE]
