Somali President Denounces Power Sharing Deal
Somali president Abdullahi Yusuf has condemned a recently signed power sharing deal that binds his interim government to share power with a moderate opposition alliance, casting doubt on the feasibility of the barely one week old deal. In a televised interview with Al Jazeera, Yusuf accused Prime Minister Nur Hassan Hussein of working in the interest of “one clan”, which he declined to name. Sources say President Yusuf and Prime Minister Hussein have disagreed over the composition of the new government, which would be a coalition with the opposition Alliance for the Re-liberation of Somalia (ARS).[PE]
