Sudanese authorities have demolished about 10,000 makeshift houses in a Khartoum slum, leaving over 50,000 people homeless. Eyewitnesses say police arrived in the Mandela slum on Wednesday evening and used tear gas to flush out residents before demolishing their houses. The slum is mostly inhabited by people from Darfur and South Sudan. [PE]
