Kenya celebrates Obama victory
In recognition of a landslide victory by Illinois Senator Barack Obama, the government of Kenya has declared Thursday 6th November a public holiday. Through the state broadcaster Kenya Broadcasting Corporation, the government announced on Wednesday morning that Kenyans would not report to work as a sign of honour to Obama’s historic election as the 44th and first African-American president of the United States of America.
Obama has his roots in Alego Kogelo, in Nyanza province Kenya, where his late father Barack Obama snr was born and brought up.
