An opinion poll has indicated that Zambian Opposition leader Michael Sata could win the country’s October 30 presidential election with 46 per cent of the vote, beating acting President Rupiah Banda to second place with 32 per cent. The opinion poll, which was carried out by the Steadman Group, also predicts that the other opposition candidate, Hakainde Hichilema, will garner 20 per cent of the vote. Zambians will go to the polls to replace their late President Levy Mwanawasa, who died of a stroke last August.[PE]
