Zimbabwe war veterans Urge Mugabe to Sideline Tsvangirai
Zimbabwe's hawkish war veterans have urged President Robert Mugabe to form a government without Opposition leader Morgan Tsvangirai, the country’s state-owned Herald newspaper has reported. The war veterans’ Chairman Jabulani Sibanda said Tsvangirai should be left out for impeding talks towards the formation of a national unity government. Tsvangirai’s Movement for Democratic Change has previously accused the pro-Mugabe war veterans of attacking against its supporters during campaigns for the June 27 presidential run-off vote, forcing Tsvangirai to boycott in protest and ensuring Mugabe’s one reelection. Mugabe and Tsvangirai have failed to implement a September 15 power sharing accord after they disagreed over the allocation of powerful ministries. [PE]
