3 October 2008 - News From Africa
Nigerian President Umaru Yar’Adua is unfazed by a looming court decision challenging his 2007 election, his saying spokesman said Thursday. Presidential spokesman Olusegun Adeniyi told reporters in Lagos that former military ruler Muhamadu Buhari, who lost the election and has challenged Yar’Adua’s election in court, has a ‘very weak case that may not even enjoy the backing of his own political party’. Nigeria’s Supreme Court is set to rule on the case on October 13. [PE]
