Zimbabwe Leaders to Discuss Cabinet Deadlock in October
Zimbabwe’s principal leaders will meet in October to discuss a deadlock over the sharing of key ministries, the country’s parliamentary speaker has said. House speaker Lovemore Moyo told reporters in Harare that President Robert Mugabe, Prime Minister-designate Morgan Tsvangirai and opposition faction leader Arthur Mutambara will meet to seek agreement on the sharing of certain choice ministries. Tsvangirai’s opposition MDC has insisted on getting control of the strategic ministries of Finance, Foreign Affairs and Home Affairs, which President Mugabe’s ruling Zanu-PF has refused to concede. The two principals signed a power sharing accord on September 15, ending months of political tussling between them.[ PE]
