Kenyan President Asks Oil Firms to Lower Prices

Kenyan President Mwai Kibaki has asked oil companies operating in the country to reduce their pump prices in resonance with falling international prices. Speaking at the official opening of the Coca Cola company’s new regional headquarters in Nairobi, Kibaki said the high energy cost was causing severe inflationary pressure on ordinary Kenyans, further promising to influence the lowering of electricity prices, which have also rocketed alongside oil prices.[PE]
