Poll Shows 63 % of Kenyans Approve of Unity Govt

A new Gallup poll has shown that Kenya’s 6-month coalition government enjoys a 63 per cent approval rating from the public. In a report released Monday, Gallup also found out that 56 per cent of Kenyans believe the unity government will hold until the next presidential election in 2012. As for the top political leadership, 63 per cent approve of President Mwai Kibaki while Prime Minister Raila Odinga tops with an 85 per cent approval rating. Kibaki and Odinga agreed to form a unity government in February to halt violent skirmishes that claimed 1500 lives after both claimed victory in the country’s disputed December 2007 presidential election.
