At least 43 people have been killed by a rock fall in a crowded shanty town in Cairo, Egyptian security sources said Monday. The heavy rock fall, which came tumbling down after a cliff overlooking the low class area fell Saturday, destroyed many shacks and buildings, with some boulders weighing over 200 tonnes and requiring days to remove. Rock falls are fairly frequent in the Cairo area, which borders the Muqattam Hills on its eastern side. [PE]
