Kenya Seeks Cheaper Oil from Sudan
Pressed by rising global oil prices, Kenya is seeking to import more of its crude oil from neighbouring Sudan, a leading Kenyan newspaper has reported. According to The Daily Nation, Sudan’s ambassador to Nairobi, Majok Guadong, has confirmed that the two countries will sign an import-export agreement this week, paving way for Kenya to receive the crude at a preferential price from Sudan. Ethiopia has a similar agreement Sudan, and reportedly saves up to $7 million annually as Sudan is not a member of the Organisation of the Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC) cartel. [PE
