26 August 2008 - News From Africa
At least 25 people are feared dead after Sudanese security forces attacked a displacement camp in Kalma, South Darfur. Eyewitnesses say the security forces arrived in a convoy of 60 vehicles in search of weapons, sparking off clashes with the residents. The number of the dead is uncertain, but it is feared that up to 32 may have been killed and 100 wounded. The UN and the US have condemned the attacks at the camp, which holds about 80,000 people displaced by the Darfur conflict.[PE]
