12 Algerians killed in Islamist ambush

Eleven Algerian government soldiers and a civilian were killed Tuesday after they were ambushed by Islamist militants in the mountainous region of Skikda, Eastern Algeria. Algerian newspapers say another 12 security officers were wounded in the attack, in which the Islamists hurled two bombs at soldiers on patrol. [PE]
