Uganda Begins Selling Locally Made Aids Drugs

A Ugandan pharmaceutical firm has began selling Anti-Retroviral drugs (ARVs) it manufactures locally, a Ugandan newspaper has announced. The New Vision reports that Quality Chemical Industries is now producing 60 million tablets everyday for sale in doses priced at $8. Approved by Uganda’s National Drug Authority and the World Health Organization, the firm is the first in Africa to produce ARVs. [PE]
