France Denies Participating in Rwanda Genocide
France has rejected a Rwandan report accusing her of complicity in the East African country’s 1994 genocide. French Foreign Minister spokesman Romain Nadal dismissed the report, which implicates former French President Francois Mitterrand, former Prime Minister Alain Juppe and 31 other French politicians and military officials, saying it was “not objective.” Last week, Rwanda released a 500-page report claiming France contributed to the planning of the massacres and even took part in the ethnic bloodshed that claimed the lives of an estimated 800,000 Tutsis and moderate Hutus.
