Opposition Leader Urges Arab States to Support Somali Peace Process

A key Somali opposition leader has urged the Arab world to support the war-torn country’s peace process. Sheikh Sharif Sheikh Ahmed, who is the leader of the opposition Alliance for the Re-liberation of Somalia (ARS), told officials of the Arab League and the Egyptian government in Cairo, Egypt, that Arab states should send peacekeepers to Somalia and participate in the UN-backed withdrawal of Ethiopian troops from Somalia.[PE]
