Zimbabwe Rivals Jointly Condemn Violence

Zimbabwe's ruling party and the opposition Movement for Democratic Change (MDC) have issued a joint communique condemning the prevailing political violence in the country. Speaking Wednesday, MDC spokesman George Sibotshiwe said the communique was part of ongoing negotiations towards the formation of a unity government between the two sides. Incidentally, MDC leader Morgan Tsvangirai withdrew from a June 27 runoff poll accusing the ruling Zanu-PF party of unleashing the violence following his victory over President Robert Mugabe in the first round vote[PE].
