4 August 2008
Ten ministers have resigned from Somalia’s cabinet, deepening a leadership row within the country’s fragile government and possibly weakening Prime Minister Nur Hassan Hussein’s hold over the government. Somalia’s Education minister Aideed Abdullahi said he and nine other ministers were resigning to protest Hussein’s “dictatorial tendencies and abuse of power.” The resignations come a few days after 32 Somali legislators demanded the Prime Minister’s resignation.[PE]
