Sudan has condemned 22 more Darfur rebels to death over a May attack on the country’s capital, Khartoum. The death sentences were handed down by two special courts established to try suspected members of Darfur’s rebel Justice and Equality Movement (JEM) who were arrested for allegedly perpetrating the unprecedented attack on the Sudanese capital. The sentence brings to 30 the number of alleged rebels condemned to death over the attack, which itself claimed an estimated 200 lives. [PE]
