Sudan Urges African, Arab States to Leave ICC

The Sudanese government has called on African and Arab countries to pull out of the International Criminal Court (ICC) over its plan to charge President Omar al-Bashir for genocide. The country’s Justice Minister Abdulbaset Sabderat made the statement Wednesday, as the Sudanese parliament voted to back their government in denouncing the Court’s accusations. ICC chief prosecutor Luis Moreno-Ocampo applied for an arrest warrant Monday to have Bashir charged with the genocidal killing of an estimated 45,000 Darfuris. [PE]
