Preliminary Talks between Zimbabwe Rivals Hit Stalemate
Preliminary talks between Zimbabwe’s government and the opposition adjourned last week without agreeing on a framework for substantive talks, a spokesman for the opposition Movement for Democratic Change (MDC) said Sunday. MDC spokesman Nelson Chamisa said violence against opposition supporters was still continuing and that 113 MDC activists have died since Opposition leader Morgan Tsvangirai beat President Robert Mugabe in the March first round vote. State owned media outlets have however reported that the negotiations will continue this week. [P.E]
