ICC Seeks to Arrest President Bashir over Darfur Genocide
Prosecutors from the International Criminal Court (ICC) could soon obtain a warrant for the arrest of Sudanese President Omar al-Bashir over war crimes in Darfur, it emerged Friday. Reports that ICC prosecutors could begin seeking the warrant to charge Bashir for crimes against humanity and genocide in Darfur as early as next Monday have prompted an angry reaction from Sudan, whose foreign minister Al-Samani al-Wasila has hinted at a possible military response. China has warned against the move, saying it could jeopardize ongoing peace efforts in Sudan. [P.E]
