Ogaden rebels Accuse Govt of Starving Region
Rebels from Ethiopia’s war-afflicted and drought-stricken Ogaden region have accused the country’s government of deliberately blocking humanitarian assistance from reaching their people. The rebel Ogaden National Liberation Front (ONLF) issued a statement Friday, accusing the Ethiopian military of intimidating aid organizations into withdrawing their operations in the area. ONLF cited Medecins Sans Frontieres (MSF), which pulled out last week following operational obstruction by the government, including arbitrary arrests of its aid workers. [P.E]
