Ugandan Officials to Meet LRA over Stalled Peace Talks

The Ugandan government has sent a delegation to meet the leaders of the rebel Lord's Resistance Army (LRA) in a new attempt to end the country’s 21 year conflict. Uganda’s minister for international affairs, Henry Oryem Okello, says the delegation will seek to explain the final provisions of the peace agreement to LRA leader Joseph Kony and convince him to sign a delayed peace deal. Last April, Kony refused to ink a peace deal with the government, stalling two years of negotiations in the last phase. Okello said the two sides would begin their meetings on July 12. [P.E]
