Tsvangirai Snubs Meeting on Possible Unity Govt
Zimbabwean Opposition leader Morgan Tsvangirai on Sunday snubbed a one-on-one meeting with President Robert Mugabe, insisting that any mediation must involve the African Union. South African President Thabo Mbeki had mediated the meeting with the hope of tabling a proposal for a unity government with Mugabe as titular President and Tsvangirai as executive Premier. The two presidents, who waited for Tsvangirai for over an hour, broke off the meeting after the opposition leader failed to turn and efforts to contact him went fruitless. [PE]
