South Sudan Begins Civilian Disarmament

Sudan’s semi-autonomous South has begun a campaign to confiscate guns and other weapons acquired by civilians during the country’s 21-year civil war. South Sudanese Internal Affairs Minister Paul Mayom says only a few guns have so far been submitted voluntarily and that there are plans to employ the army to carry out a simultaneous search for the weapons.
