A joint North-South security force has been deployed in Sudan’s oil-rich Abyei region Wednesday to avert the possibility of a fresh civil war emanating from the disputed region. The deployment actualizes an agreement signed on June 8 by Sudanese President Omar al Bashir and South Sudanese leader Salva Kiir following deadly clashes between northern and southern troops that killed dozens and displaced over 50,000 in Abyei.
