Militant Attack Halts Production at Major Nigerian Oil Field

Production at a major offshore oil field in southern Nigeria was suspended after a key militant group launched an attack against the facility. Anglo-Dutch oil giant Shell, which produces 200,000 barrels of oil and 150 million standard cubic feet of gas everyday, halted production Thursday after the attack by fighters from the Movement for the Emancipation of the Niger Delta (MEND).
